About Us.....
Julie grew up riding, training,
showing and breeding quarter horses in the Pacific Northwest.
After college, Julie moved to California and decided to pursue
a hobby involving the breed she found to be the most similar
to her beloved quarter horses- competiting in AKC conformation
and performance events with the versatile labrador retriever.
Everyone
has to start somewhere. Julie purchased her first show prospect
(see Libby's page) a couple of years later and while Libby never
turned out for the conformation ring or for breeding purposes,
she turned out to be a wonderful family pet and taught everyone
many lessons in obedience training. Monty came out to California
from New York in 2005 and took Julie to levels that she never
dreamed were possible. He won his first AKC point at their first
conformation show the day he turned 6 months, going on to finish
his AKC Championship at 2 years of age, winning Best Of Breed
at a specialty show 6 months later (after earning his first
leg toward his AKC Junior Hunter title the week prior), and
the two even strutted their stuff at the 2009 Westminster Kennel
Club Dog Show.
Monty was Julie's "family" in southern California
until she met Matthew in 2009. Matt, a native Californian and
fishing/hunting/outdoor enthusiast who spent much of his childhood
exploring the wilderness of Montana, was thrilled to find a
lady with a "hunting dawg" (Monty was already well-started
on training for hunt tests and has proved to be a wonderful
upland hunting dog as well). Julie and Matt were happily married
in 2011. They added Rogue to the family that same year, during
which he finished his AKC Championship as well.
Today, life now involves many various activities with the dogs
and they live as members of the family in the home. They go
with Julie and Matt on weekend trips to the coast, play, hunt,
swim, hike, snooze on the couch, and enjoy all that life has
to offer. On most weekends, there are “dog activities”
from meetings to shows. Both dogs are amazing boys and the entire
family continues to look forward to any successes they may earn
but also to many, many more wonderful times with their friends
and “family” both in and outside of the dog world.
